Ep. 1: 12 Questions about Problem Solving with Equation to Test Your Mathematics Ability

According to the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR BLOG, the demand for STEM-related occupations grows twice faster as other occupations. The median annual wages of STEM-related occupation is also more than double those of other occupations.

As a student, it would be a wonderful experience if one is good at mathematics on the road to learning. However, there are many barriers to learning mathematics. Using equations to solve a real-world problem is one of them. Have you overcome this barrier? Here are 12 questions about problem-solving with equations to test your mathematics ability.

About the layout:

  • A5. This 2 pages pdf is best-printed side by side in a landscape A4 page.
  • You can see four icons on the top of each page. Since I made a lot of pdf with similar layouts, I use these icons to make them easier to distinguish them

Some words about selected questions:

Question 2 seems easy but most people will need to do it correctly. The main reason is they usually write the equation poorly by mixing up x+9 or x - 9 in the equation (there is no correct answer, it depends on whose age is x). I like using this question as an exercise because it demands a systematic way of writing down the information we get from the question.
